MAY 2015 - The Canal & River Explorers Duck is named after a nationwide competition
The Canal & River Trust received some fantastic entries that really made them laugh and after a lot of deliberation the panel of experts chose the winning name. We would like to introduce you to Oatis Quackalot! The Year 4 Hawk Class from Bamford Academy in Rochdale created the name Oatis Quackalot and won a boat trip for their class. The children chose the name because “By feeding Oatis the recommended diet of oats, we can ensure that he, and other ducks, quack (a lot) just like him! Oatis is a name chosen to remind visitors that ducks eat oats (and vegetables etc) NOT Bread! The catchy name should encourage a healthy lifestyle for all ducks.”
