NOVEMBER 2013 - Spooking children to inspire their creativity
Behold, a project that was designed to capture a child's interest and imagination whilst developing their literacy skills, and what a project it was! For the Dart-for-d Games Legacy Programme, JPRye delivered a programme to which Year 5 children from 14 schools were invited to an interactive and characterised one-day workshop. The workshop was targeted specifically at Gifted & Talented writers to engage them in the writing process and inspire their creativity. The workshops were based on the literary series, The Spook's Apprentice by Joseph Delaney and led by his son, Steve Delaney in character as Spook Johnson. The Spook led the children through several sessions that tested their mental ability and at times turned their stomachs when dealing with bloodcakes.
